It is one of the largest and most ornate movie palaces ever built. It was originally designed in 1920s as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque.
An outstanding theatre, it has an ostentatious interior and lavish façade. It is replete with minarets and onion domes. Every surface is decorated with ornate plasterwork, some of it gilded. The main entrance opens on to a pair of elegant staircases that sweep patrons into the upper balconies. The auditorium is an Arabian courtyard where you can sit under a star studded sky.
Opened on Christmas Day 1929, just prior to the great depression, the Fox is a born survivor. It has lived through depression, mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, competition, television, real estate development and above all, age and come out with flying colors.
The Fox is a National Historic Landmark and also a Georgia Museum Building. It has huge opulent ballrooms. A special feature of the Fox is 'Might Mo', a huge theatre organ having four keyboards and over 3,600 pipes.
Today, it hosts Broadway Musicals Comedy shows and Rock concerts and dance throughout the year.
Box Office Hours: Monday- Friday, 10am- 6pm; Saturday, 10am- 3pm; Sunday, the box office is not open on Sundays unless there is a performance that day. During events, the box office opens two hours prior to show time. Doors to the Fox open one hour prior to show time.
