If you are looking for a different kind of first date experience, or you are a fringe culture- vulture, or just want to enjoy subtle comedy full of substance, then this is the place for you. Winner of Best Theatre and Best Improv Troupe in Creative Loafing for the past four years; Dad's Garage is the pride of Atlanta.
Founded in 1995, Dad's Garage Theater has grown to a mid size theatre that entertains over 30,000 people annually. It is a two theater facility which has done path breaking work.
The theatre includes a 140- seat Main stage space and a 40- seat black box space. Its world premier production of Cannibal: The musical (based on the famous movie) brought it lasting fame. The debut of O Happy Day (the lost play by Monty Python great Graham Chapman), and the recent premiere of Carrie White the Musical (an unauthorized parody adapted by the Dad's Garage Ensemble) have been staged here and won critical acclaim. They perform traditional and original formats including the Improvised Soap Opera Scandal.
Dad's Garage produces improvised shows 52 weeks a year. Traditional and original formats are performed every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday except Thanksgiving and Christmas day. The theatre has got recognition from Atlanta Foundation, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Doris Duke Charitable Trust and many such organizations.
