Aquarium

Atlanta Aquarium is a massive aquarium facility that features five hundred species of marine life that live and thrive in glass-lined water-filled aquariums (with a total capacity of more than 8 million gallons.) The fish alone in this gigantic aquarium facility number more than one hundred thousand. It is believed that the Atlanta Aquarium is the biggest aquarium facility in the world right now. Entry is priced at $23 per adult, $17 for children aged three to twelve each, and $20 per adult aged at least 55. Of special interest are two male whales that had been mistreated in their amusement-park home before being brought to Atlanta Aquarium. It helps that Atlanta Aquarium aims to promote conservation and appreciation of marine life and marine habitats.

Zoo

In Atlanta, Georgia exists a wildlife park called Zoo Atlanta – a zoo that is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Zoo Atlanta occupies 16 hectares (or 40 acres) within Grant Park and is visited by around one million people annually. Tourists come to see the nearly 1,000 animals that fall under 250 biological species which were sourced from various habitats throughout the world. Being part of the AZA, means that Zoo Atlanta tries to do its part to propagate endangered animals like the Sumatran tiger and the red panda. Though founded by George Gress, it was Dr. Terry Maple who was responsible for reviving the zoo and helping bring it to its level of prominence now – a landmark and key attraction in Atlanta.
