Inman Park takes you back in time and transports you to a different era – an era when chivalery was the order of the day, romance was in the air and art and culture flourished.
Developed after the civil war, historic Inman Park is Atlanta's first planned community and one of America's first garden suburbs. It is listed on the national register of historic places and is located two miles east of downtown.
The streets of Inman park take you back to the 19th- century. High Victorian, Queen Anne, late Victorian Colonial and Classical Revival style homes stand elegantly with all their grandeur. A dream project developed in the 1880s by Joel Hurt, the park has all the modern amenities for a comfortable lifestyle. There are over 300 homes in various stages of restoration or renovation in Inman Park.
During the last full weekend of April each year, Inman Park proudly presents a neighborhood festival. It includes parades, entertainment, dancing and open houses. Each year the event draws thousands of visitors to the neighborhood.
A joyous and colorful parade led by the Inman Park Butterfly is also carried out. Other attractions include a juried arts and crafts contest, featuring some of the Southeast's finest artists.
