This 21- acre park originated during the 996 Olympic Games. It continues its legacy as the gathering place for million of visitors in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
Less than two decades ago, Centennial Olympic Park's neighborhood was a run- down part of town. The scenario changed when Billy Payne CEO, of the Atlanta committee for the Olympic games decided to transform this ugly eyesore into a glorious tourist attraction for visitors and residents, during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and for years to come.
Centennial Olympic Park prides itself as host to a variety of premiere events, from ceremonies to corporate receptions; the Park offers a unique alternative to indoor gatherings and has built a reputation for providing turnkey event solutions.
This 21- acre park is still a favorite haunt, providing great music and entertainment. The park will witness a flurry of development. An eight million galloon Georgia Aquarium and the new World of Coca- Cola – both next door to the park are being developed.
The park is operated by Georgia Dome and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Free events are held every year like the fourth of July celebration, Wednesday wind down concert series and fourth Saturday family fun days. The park authorities aim at creating a world class park excelling in every aspect.
