IMAGE Film and Video Center

The IMAGE which began functioning in 1976, is the only established multi- purpose media arts center in the region. It strives to support media artists who work on their own and develop an audience for them as well. They promote the production, exhibition and public awareness of film and video as artistic forms of individual expression.

Each month IMAGE provides informal, educational salons, which are free and open to the public. Salons cover a variety of issues dealing directly with independent film and video making. Guest speakers grace these salons. They speak on various topics such as grant writing, digital filmmaking, and animation.

An IMAGE FILM 2006 awards gala will be held on June 2006 in the Egyptian Ballroom of Atlanta's fabulous fox theater. It's a fund raising event held annually.

Its proceeds support the Atlanta Film Festival, Out On Film, and the many year- round programs and services IMAGE offers to the Atlanta community. In 2005, IMAGE Film & Video celebrated its 5th Annual Premiere Party & Awards Ceremony, where Spike Lee was bestowed the Ossie Davis award.
