The Atlanta Opera Center

Considered one of South's cultural treasures, the Atlanta Opera Company presents fully staged grand opera at the ornate and historic Fabulous Fox Theater. Founded in 1979, the Atlanta Opera is led by its General Director Dennis Hanthorn, the company works to attract the finest international, national, and regional singers, conductors, stage directors, and designers.

It strives to present opera productions of the highest standards possible, while fostering education about the art form and encouraging its growth with services and programs designed to fill the needs of the community. The company has won numerous awards, both nationally and locally.

It succeeds in attracting the traditional audiences as well as upcoming ones. The center conducts a pre show entertainment on the civic center plaza. The Opera owns its own building and rehearsal hall. Some of the famous performances of the company are Puccini's ‘La Rondine', 'The Pearl Fishers', 'Marriage of Fiagro' and 'The Flying Dutchman.' The theatre is well equipped with wheelchair seating and there are also special accommodations for persons with hearing impairment. The company's season runs from April to October.
