Thrown open to the public in September 1978, Center for Puppetry Arts is the first puppetry center in U.S. The story of the center originated when a young puppeteer from Florida, Vincent Anthony, made Atlanta his home and created Vagabond Marionettes with Mitchell Edmonds. The Vagabond Marionettes traveled around the Southeast and presented several seasons at Atlanta's Woodruff Arts Center. In 1978, Anthony found a permanent home in the former Spring Street Elementary School.
The center caters to audiences of all age groups. It not only hosts puppet shows but also arranges special events, meetings, get- together or parties.
Guests can witness the magic of puppetry in performances, participate in puppet- making activities or discover the Center's international Museum. Special efforts are made to celebrate your child's birthday. There's a special gift for the birthday boy or girl. You can even add a Create- A- Puppet Workshop to make a souvenir puppet to take home. It's a unique party to make your child and his friends have a whale of a time.
Opening Hours:
Tue- Sat 9am- 5pm; Sun 11am- 5pm

Posted by Agatha, 05 March, 2008The one thing I love about this museum is for all ages. I can bring my kids here without them getting bored with all of the arts hanging around. Perfect place for a weekend escape as well as field trips for kids.
